Welcome to Salah Deen support. This page answers the most common questions, walks you through troubleshooting steps, and tells you how to reach us if you need a hand. Salah Deen is built to help Muslims pray on time, find the Qibla, build consistent streaks, and stay accountable — and we want your experience to be smooth from Fajr to Isha.

1. Getting Started

1.1 Creating an account

Open the app, tap Sign Up, enter your email, a password, and a display name. We send a verification email immediately — check your inbox (and Spam folder). You must verify your email before prayer reminders can be scheduled.

1.2 Email verification didn't arrive

1.3 Allowing location and notifications

On first launch, Salah Deen asks for two permissions:

If you accidentally denied either, you can re-enable them in your device's Settings app. See Troubleshooting below.

2. Prayer Times

2.1 Times look wrong or are for a different city

2.2 Times haven't updated for the new day

Salah Deen caches the next 7 days of prayer times locally so the app works offline. If you've been offline longer than that, connect to the internet and re-open the app — times will refresh automatically. The app re-fetches whenever you move more than ~2.5 km.

2.3 Which calculation method does Salah Deen use?

Prayer times are calculated using the Aladhan API, a widely respected open prayer-time service. The default method follows the most common convention for your region; your selected Madhab adjusts the Asr calculation only.

3. Prayer Notifications & Adhan Alarm

3.1 I'm not getting any prayer notifications

  1. Confirm OS notification permission is granted: Settings → Salah Deen → Notifications → Allow Notifications.
  2. Inside the app: Settings → Prayer Reminders — make sure the master toggle and the individual prayer toggles are on.
  3. Android only: disable battery optimization for Salah Deen (Settings → Apps → Salah Deen → Battery → Unrestricted). Aggressive battery savers can kill scheduled alarms.
  4. iOS only: check Focus modes — if a Focus is on, prayer alerts may be silenced. Add Salah Deen to the Focus's allowed apps.
  5. Sign out and sign back in to refresh the push notification token.

3.2 The adhan alarm fired silently / I slept through Fajr

3.3 How far in advance can I be reminded?

For each prayer you can choose a pre-alert from 0 to 60 minutes before the time in Settings → Prayer Reminders. The adhan itself fires at the prayer time. Reminders are pre-scheduled for the next 7 days, so they work even if your phone is offline overnight.

4. Qibla Compass

4.1 The compass needle spins or points the wrong way

Your device compass needs to be calibrated:

4.2 Does Qibla work indoors?

Yes — the Qibla bearing is calculated from your GPS coordinates (which work indoors if you have any signal), and the compass uses your device's magnetometer. Just be aware that indoor environments often have magnetic interference, so calibrate often.

5. Streaks & Prayer Logging

5.1 How is a prayer counted as on-time, late, or missed?

Status How it's set
On time Marked complete before the next prayer's start time
Late Marked complete after the next prayer began but before the day ends
Missed Not marked complete by the end of the day
Unmarked Default state until you tap to log

5.2 My streak reset and I think it's a bug

A streak continues as long as you log Fajr each day. If Fajr is logged as missed (or not logged by the end of the day), the streak resets. Streaks cannot be manually restored — this is intentional to keep accountability honest. If you believe there is a real data bug (e.g., your prayer was logged but the streak still reset), email us with your account email and the date in question.

5.3 Can I edit yesterday's prayer log?

You can mark a missed prayer for the current day until midnight local time. Past days are locked to preserve the integrity of streaks and group accountability.

6. Accountability Groups

6.1 Creating a group

Tap Groups → Create Group, give it a name, and you'll receive a 6-character invite code to share with friends or family. There is no limit on how many groups you can create or join.

6.2 Joining a group

Ask the group creator for the 6-character invite code, then tap Groups → Join Group and enter it.

6.3 What do other group members see about me?

Other members cannot see your email, your location, your past days, or your AI coach feedback.

6.4 Leaving a group

Tap the group, then Leave Group. Your data is removed from that group immediately. If you were the last member, the group is deleted entirely.

7. AI Coach Feedback

The AI coach reviews your weekly aggregate prayer statuses (not individual prayers, not your location, not your group data) and generates a short, personalised piece of feedback to help you improve. New feedback is generated approximately once per week. If feedback feels off, you can safely ignore it — your streak and logs are unaffected.

8. Premium & Subscriptions

8.1 What does Premium include?

Salah Deen Premium unlocks the full experience:

Premium is available as a monthly or yearly subscription.

8.2 Managing your subscription

8.3 Restoring purchases

If you previously paid for Premium and your subscription isn't recognised (after reinstalling, on a new device, or after signing in with a different Apple/Google account), tap Settings → Restore Purchases in the app.

8.4 Cancelling

Cancel anytime through your App Store or Play Store subscription settings (see 8.2). You'll keep Premium access until the end of the current billing period. We don't lock you in — no in-app cancellation friction.

8.5 Refunds

All payments are processed by Apple or Google, not by us, so refunds are handled through them directly:

If you've been charged but didn't receive Premium features, contact us — we'll help diagnose and, if needed, vouch for your refund request to Apple or Google.

9. Account Management

9.1 Changing your display name

Settings → Profile → Display Name. The change is instant and visible to your accountability groups.

9.2 Changing your email or password

For security, Firebase Authentication requires you to re-enter your current password before changing either. Go to Settings → Account → Change Email / Change Password. If you've forgotten your password, use Forgot Password on the sign-in screen to receive a reset link.

9.3 Deleting your account

Email alisohail6835@gmail.com from the email associated with your account. We will permanently delete all personally identifiable data — profile, prayer logs, streaks, group memberships, and FCM tokens — within 30 days, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
